6 BLACK SOCCER PLAYERS THAT CHANGED THE GAME!
Here in the United States Football to us is pigskin, helmets & shoulder pads, ball throwing. But to the rest of the world it’s a whole different…..ball game. Soccer is perhaps the most popular sport in the world. Although here in the states we know of the accomplishments of greats like Emmit Smith, Cam Newton and Colin Kaepernick in our great game of Football there’s other legendary “Football” players that look just like us.
For example; two time gold model Olympian Jose Andrade of Uruguay who received recognition not as one of the first Black soccer players but a member of the team who won the First FIFA World Cup in 1930! Freddy Adu who was born in Ghana but moved to the U.S. at 14 became the youngerst American ever to sign a major league sports deal in 2004, and he was the #1 MLS Superdraft pick!
Didier Drogba became the 1st African player to score 100 league points in 2012 and score in four separate FA Cup finals in the same year! England’s most capped full back is its own Ashley Cole. Yakubu Aiyegbeni is Nigeria’s 3rd highest scorer and let’s not forget about the greatest Football player of all time Period, the great Pele of Brazil.
