LEWIS LATIMER, ARTIST AND INVENTOR

Born to runway slaves in Massachusetts Latimer in his adult life after serving millitary time worked at a law firm. Known to draw Latimer became a well sour after draftsman and with a WC Brown invented the Toilet. Two years later he would draft what would become the telephone for Alexander Graham Bell and. improve on Thomas Edison’s lightbulb making it long lasting and cost efficient. He went on to improve incandescent as well as as Arc lighting. He also invented “Bookends” and what would become A/C units for hospitals.  Throughout his life he continued to work to improve everyday life. He also worked to improve Civil rights.
