The next big African American TV drama is….Not on TV!
Nope you wont be able to find it on TV, Cable, Netflix nor YouTube! But you can “Hear” it online. Tate brothers, Larron, Lahmard and Larenz’s “TateMen Entertainment” along with Lawrence Fishburne’s “Cinema Gypsy productions” have produced a series drama unlike any we’ve seen, well at least in this era.
After being turned down by Hollywood Larenz Tate and Legendary actor Lawrence Fishburne took their idea of a show about Black Chicago gangsters in the 1940s underground and strung up the idea of the old serial shows that used to air on radio in the days before the Television. The new show “Bronzeville” is centered around “Jimmy” a young man who runs from his troubles in Arkansas to Chicago’s southside underworld and into a lot more problems.
This “Wire” meets “Hoodlum” style drama is also star studded. The cast includes not only veteran actors Larenz, Lahmard and Fisburne, but also Wood Harris, Tracy Ellis Ross, Omari Hardwick and Tika Sumpter among others. Not only is this a great way to finally be able to tell the stories we want to tell, our way but also a great opportunity to break down the doors of new and innovative ways, or re animate the old. Listen to Bronzeville on EVERY platform by visiting their website.
