2000s Grammy award winning and Platinum selling Rapper “Chamillionaire” is taking his finances to the next level. Leaving music behind in 2011, Cham’s new mission is to express the potential of others by becoming a Venture Capitalist.
A Venture capitalist is an investor who either provides capital to start up ventures or support small companies that wish to expand but dont have access to equities markets*
Chamillionaire, 35 born Hakeem Siriki partnered up with “Upfront Ventures” an investment firm out of Santa Monica, CA. His position, “Entrepreneur In Residence (EIR)” a temporary one allows him to sit in, basically like the ABC TV show “Shark Tank” style on pitches from current and future business owners and Inventors for seed money to either expand or launch their ideas.
Cham’s plan is to learn the ins and outs of Venture capitalism to expand his investment portfolio. His interest? Tech! He started by going to Tech conferences seeing the explosion of Spotify and the resurgence of Apple. A company he gave money to was recently acquired by Disney. Using that as momentum he’s looking to see how far he can go, how much money he can make, and how many people he can help!
