THE BLACK PANTHER PARTY FOR SELF DEFENSE

Yesterday on October 15th, 1966 college students Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale created the Black Panther Party for self defense, an anti racist Black Nationalist and Socialist organization.

Its core practice was its armed citizens patrol monitoring the behavior of Oakland, CA police officers in the wake of city wide police brutality and injustice.

The Panthers also challenged social inequality in the mist of the fight for Civil Rights after the deaths of MLK & Malcolm X and instead of begging they created breakfast and lunch programs, clothes drives and free health clinics. All these programs would be adopted by the U.S. government after the panthers were dissolved.

Basing their fundamental views on the late Malcolm X, Marcus Garvey and Chairman Mao of China The Black Panther Party for self defense  (BPP) also employed a Black Nationalist stance opting a “Buy Black” approach instead of integrated consuming.

The Panthers went on to face numerous obstacles as their status in fame across the country rose. Although there were chapters opening up in many cities here and in different countries converting gangs their armed patrols caused then California governor Ronald Raegan (Who as POTUS was responsible for the crack epidemic) to write a bill condemning open carry infringing upon the 2nd amendment right.

As we now know of the FBI’s “Black Identity Extremist” label the BPP was the 3rd  Anti Racist Pro-Black organization (the 1st being Marcus Garvey’s UNIA, 2nd being Elijah Muhammad’s Nation of Islam) to be infiltrated through operation “COINTELPRO” and destroyed from within ending at that time Blacks struggle for equal rights and freedoms.

FAMOUS BLACK PANTHERS:

Dr. Huey P. Newton, Bobby Seale, Eldridge & Kathleen Clever, Kwame Toure, David Hilliard, Fred Hampton, Sekou Odinga, Assata & Afeni Shakur, Tupac Shakur.
