JAN ERNST MATZELIGER, SHOE MAKER

On this day March 19, 1883 a worker at a shoe factory patented an idea he came up with to create a machine that would attach the upper part of shoes to the sole. Before, this was done by hand. His invention was the shoe lasting machine.
